Hi!  Welcome to Uruguay Top Spots!

I’m Tamara, and I am here to help you plan your next trip to Uruguay.  Whether you are planning on visiting, or just interested in this big hearted, South American Country, I hope you find this blog interesting.

I am an Australian, married to a great guy who was born in Uruguay.  I have to admit, like most people, when we first met and he said he was from Uruguay, I had to dig deep into my memory to think, what had I heard about Uruguay, and, where was it exactly?

We made our first visit here in early 2008, and after selling our business in Australia, and putting a few belongings in boxes (mainly tools), we made our way to Uruguay in mid 2008.  Now that we are living here, Uruguay presents us an interesting life.  We live by the beach in La Paloma, and have been able to step back and appreciate the simple things in life.  There have been so many things to learn during this mini adventure.  Not only have I been learning Spanish (which at the beginning also means an interesting set of hand signals), I have learnt to cook with the basics, ride a motorbike (does a scooter count?), and slowly but surely, we are learning to navigate our way around doing business Uruguayan style.  We both enjoy exploring the different areas of Uruguay, which I will share with you here on this website.

Throughout the course of this blog, I will present you all kinds of information on Uruguay.  I will give you all kinds of information on the destinations in Uruguay, including Montevideo, Punta del Este, Colonia, Las Termas, La Paloma and more.  I will offer reviews on hotels, pieces of travel advice to help you with your trip, a few pointers to help you with your Spanish and much more.  Oh, and don’t forget, I am from Australia so if some of the spelling looks a bit funny, that would be why.
